Princess Peach is the current ruling monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom and a central character of the Super Mario Series. She is well known for constantly being kidnapped for the purposes of various villains on a frequent basis; the most notable being Bowser. She is also known for being a central love interest for a wide array of characters. Princess Peach resides in Mushroom Castle (a.k.a Princess Peach's Castle), located in the Central-North regions of the Mushroom Kingdom.

♡Appearance and Personality♡

​

Peach has always been officially portrayed as a blue-eyed, blonde woman of relatively young adulthood and very long blonde hair. This is contrary to appearances on older Nintendo platforms but is commonly believed to be due to the graphical limitations of such systems. Peach consistently wears a large, yet niche assortment of pink dresses and outfits, with a tiara never leaving her head. Her standard dress has always sported a loosely Victorian-based design and style but has undergone minor detail changes over the past 20 years. Initially, Peach wore her standard dresses to sporting events where she would compete, but quickly changed to more appropriate alternative attire, which met mixed reactions from fans. Alongside this change has brought a new ponytail hairstyle, which is now used interchangeably between dress codes.

Peach is considered by many to be a symbol of kindness and generosity; a potential factor behind her association with the heart. She frequently puts others above herself in a means to provide aid and support, regardless of the predicaments it may place her in. Peach rarely bears ill will towards her captors or those who cause trouble for others around her, which is most notable through her relations with Bowser and his minions. Furthermore, many of Peach's behavioural characteristics. Despite her gentle nature, Peach is known to be headstrong and valiant against the opposition, alongside developing a somewhat competitive attitude in sporting events. Whilst this appears to be at odds with her frequent kidnappings, such moments demonstrate Peach's unique duality of independence and reliance on others, suggesting that there is much more to the Princess than what is known on the surface.

♡Powers and abilities♡

​

Whilst often overlooked in a given situation, Peach has a formidable array of techniques and abilities at her disposal. The most commonly known of such is Peach's magical ability to float in mid-air, allowing her to cross great horizontal distances and reach otherwise impossible areas. This technique makes her a user favourite in Super Mario Bros. 2 and the Super Smash Bros. series and remains unrivalled in its own regard.

Peach also has an unusual power to heal herself and others who are injured, as evident in Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario: TTYD, and Super Princess Peach. This ability enables the recipient to regain physical stamina whether they are conscious or unconscious, but it remains a mystery as to whether such magic can cure illness. Given the apparent "loss" of such an ability at otherwise crucial times throughout the series, it raises the issue as to whether this particular ability is tied to some other energy Peach may possess.

A parasol is often not too far out of reach as the Princess's weapon of choice, which can be used both offensively and defensively. In the Smash Bros. series, the parasol is used to gently float down towards the ground whilst covering large horizontal distances, with the added benefit of injuring those who come into contact with it. A similar use was employed in Super Paper Mario, but without any damaging effect. In Yoshi's Island DS, Peach's parasol is used to fly in updrafts of wind, but hinders Yoshi's Flutter jump ability in its absence. Furthermore, the parasol was an assignable weapon for Peach's basic attack in Super Mario RPG.

In the Marioverse, Peach's strength typically lies in her technique and skill rather than brute force. As a result, Peach is often a very easy character to master and a top choice for novice players, given her ease of use. Veteran players also come to use Peach for her tactical advantages in such games, including accuracy, ball control, and relatively high physical movement speed. As a consequence of this, she is generally lightweight and lacks strength, meaning that Peach users often have to outperform opponents through perseverance and tactical thinking.

♡Role and Relationships♡

Throughout the Super Mario series, Peach's role has generally been confined to being the "damsel in distress", who is generally kidnapped by Bowser for his own purposes. The reasoning behind this motive has changed with time, progressing from Peach possessing magical powers to reverse his initial chaos on the Mushroom Kingdom and its residents, to Bowser seemingly holding some form of an affectionate crush towards her. Peach appears to hold no interest towards Bowser, regardless of the situation, instead opting for her personal rescuer, Mario, much to Bowser's anger and frustration with defeat. Despite these setbacks, Bowser shows no sign of ever giving up, as he continues to kidnap Princess Peach regularly.

Peach has also been the centre of attention for the devious plans of other villains throughout the Marioverse. From having her own voice stolen by Cackletta to awaken the Beanstar and grant personal wishes, to being offered up in sacrifice as a host to an ancient and powerful demon, there is almost no relief for the Princess being targeted in some shape or form. Given such frequent occurrences, it is no surprise that Peach is remarked to be "Kidnapped every weekend", and little wonder how the Mushroom Kingdom or its residents can withstand such events so often with minimal disruption to daily life. On the contrary, Peach has demonstrated

Despite the daunting life the Princess seems to lead, it can certainly be argued that things don't get much better when all is well. Toadsworth, Princess Peach's steward and unconfirmed relative, is painfully overprotective of her wellbeing, often to the point of driving Peach and company to a point of frustration. This, unfortunately, causes more problems than it helps resolve, which only sends Toadsworth into a deeper spiral of panic and results in more work for the esteemed heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom to endure.

Love is another very complicated and sensitive area for the Princess, both for being received and given to others. Peach often discusses her personal feelings towards Mario through conversations with others, albeit in an implied manner, but appears reluctant to reveal them to him personally. Unfortunately, this has left the relationship's development completely stagnant, as neither party shows any signs of making the first move. It has also opened the window for speculation, especially considering the frequency of others in the Marioverse developing or possessing some form of affection or crush towards her.

-Princess Peach was originally known as Princess Toadstool outside of Japan until the release of Yoshi's Safari (SNES) and, more notably, Super Mario 64 (N64). The reasoning for this change remains unknown to date, but it is believed to be due to a translation error.
-In Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars, Peach had a grandmother and a grandfather, who was the Chancellor of the Mushroom Kingdom.
